An organization to promote the Russian language will be created in the CIS countries

During the summit in Astana, the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States supported the decision to establish an international organization to support and promote the Russian language. According to the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, this organization will promote mutual integration between the CIS countries.

“The main task of the organization will be to preserve and strengthen cultural and humanitarian cooperation based on the close harmony of the Russian language and the languages ​​of the CIS member states,” the press service of the Executive Committee reports.

Also, the summit participants declared 2023 the Year of the Russian language as the language of interethnic communication in the Commonwealth countries. In this regard, a Statement on the development of cooperation in the field of culture was adopted. This initiative will contribute to the strengthening of intercultural dialogue, as well as to the intensification of interaction between the CIS countries in the development of the knowledge of multiculturalism in the CIS space.
